Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers has gone a long way since he was a shaky rookie prospect.
As the eight-time NBA All-Star enters his 12th season, the 30-year-old has changed himself into a bigger, more filled-out frame.
Davis entered the NBA as the first overall choice of the then-New Orleans Hornets in 2012.
He entered the league at six-foot-nine and 221 pounds.
Davis made the All-Star game six straight years with the New Orleans Pelicans after averaging 13.5 points per game as a rookie, leading the league in blocks three times.
The Kentucky native joined the Lakers in 2019, when he won his first NBA championship alongside LeBron James during the 2020 COVID bubble.
Davis, on the other hand, has played in fewer than 60 games in each of the last three seasons.
Over the course of the season, the big man bulked up during the offseason.
The Lakers shared photographs of Davis working out in the gym on social media.
He was spotted lifting weights and doing pull-ups.
Davis appeared to be physically dominant, with his biceps and arms appearing to be bigger than before.
He was classified as six-foot-10 and weighing 253 pounds last season.
Davis’ amazing bodily makeover appears to have helped him stay on the court so far in the 2023 season.
The native of Illinois has appeared in 19 of a possible 20 games.
His points per game have decreased, averaging 22.6 compared to previous season’s 25.9, but he has attempted fewer field goal attempts (15.4) than in 2022 (17.2).
Davis also has the second-best free throw percentage (84%) and averages the second-most blocks per game (2.7).
Los Angeles is 11-9 and the No. 7 seed, with LeBron averaging 24.8 points per game.
